Wawro is teaching at different universities and design academies. Since 2007, Wawro is teaching at the University in Dortmund, Institute for Art and Material Culture. The focus of Wawro‘s research work is the exploration of the relationship between people and product. Main aspects are the effects of a pre-constructed brand value and serial production of a product onto the social life of a costumer, the meaning of the abundance of consumption goods and the consumer‘s desire for an emotional relationship with a consumption good.
Wawro is working on various design fields. All projects and products are exploring the meaning of consuming and offer creative options for a sustainable consuming in peoples’ daily life. The ideas grow by an open and critical view onto ordinary daily life rules and mostly it results into a question about the function and necessity of design. Why do you like your old coffee cup with a broken handles, you don’t throw it away and by a new one? Wawro‘s work offers new perspectives for a relationship of people and product in a permanent changing environment and material culture.
